A meaningful coding camp in Beijing, China. About 50 young children aged 4-9, took part in it and had fun with Matatalab. They entered the Wetland nature reserve and observed different kinds of birds and plants at first. Then, they designed and drew the special nature map and created their adventures upon Matatalab. Using Matatalab coding robot as a tool, kids learned interdisciplinary knowledge very quickly and in a playful way.
Wetlands camp is a camp in the Health Bridge wetland nature reserve in Beijing China, designed for children to explore nature. This summer, Matatalab partnered with Wetlands camp and jointly held a summer camp, named “the Summer of AI”.
This time, the Matatalab coding learning closely integrate with the nature exploring projects, and children learned the basic coding concepts through project-based learning (PBL). They also learned about the impact of programming on modern life and got to know the importance of computational thinking skills, and finally feel that programming is fun and easy.
Following the characteristics of cognitive development of young children, Matatalab provides a STEAM programming enlightenment education for the young children, using the tangible coding blocks, the young children learn about abstract coding ideas through concrete things. |Day 3||The heaven of birds||Lead the children to design bird protection games in group, and challenge them to compose a song. Ultimately,, the awareness of caring for nature, respecting biodiversity and respecting life are cultivated.|
|Day 4||The wonderland of insects||Lead the children to design memory game of insects, and use Matatalab robot set to draw the specific insect and use it as flag of their group.|
|Day 5||Party of wetland||Lead the children to start the four-day study review, encourage the team to design the wetland adventure game together, and display it in the Carnival.|
