Matatalab Competition Space Exploration


Competition Description:

Scientists predict that as the world's population grows and humanity over-consumes the planet's resources, the Earth has only enough energy to sustain human life for 300 to 500 years.Thereafter, humanity will have to abandon Earth and migrate to other planets. For now, the only planet that humans have the best hope of migrating to is Mars. Therefore, space exploration is bound to become a compulsory course for humans in the future. Are you ready for that?Are you eagerly waiting to learn more about the wonders of the universe? MatataBot is already waiting for you to discover the secrets of space with it. Get going and find out how to get to space with MatataBot!

Target Participants:

Pre-Schoolers: Participants should be 4 to 5 years old (inclusive).

Elementary Schoolers: Participants should be 6 to 8 years old (inclusive).

Separate competitions and scoring will be held for the two categories.

Participants may compete as individuals or in teams of two to four, with one coach allowed per participant or per team.

Competition Timeline:

November 13: Launch and release of Phase-I task(s)

November 13 - December 1: Submission of preliminary competition entries

December 4: Announcement of the finalists and the final tasks

December 4 - December 18: Submission of final works

December 22: Announcement of winners

Awards Setting:

Matatalab Shining Star Award (1%)

Matatalab Coding Star Award (2%)

Matatalab Creative Star Award (3%)

Matatalab Rising Star Award: several

Winners of the above individual awards will be eligible for the 2021 MWRC Offline Finals.

The following awards will be given to teachers or organizations whose recruited students’ entries stand out in quantity and quality.

How to sign up for the finals:

All attendees who attended 2020 online competiton and get the qualification of Final event

Entry Requirements:

  • Videos: Each participant can only submit one video per competition stage, which must contain a complete presentation of the work, an introduction of its functions, and a creative explanation (no longer than 3 minutes).
  • Pictures: Several images of the work as a whole and in detail (no more than 3 images)
  • Work Introduction: Written description of the work (no more than 100 words)
