Project Introduction

This is a route-planning game that allows children to control Matatabot to pick apples through coding. Children need to draw a number flashcard from the teacher’s hand and then select the music coding blocks with the corresponding number of apples. Through controlling the scope of number flashcards and the location of apple cards, teachers can adjust the game difficulty to adapt to children of different ages and levels. In the process of playing the game, children need to plan different routes and write corresponding codes according to the number of apples to be picked, letting Matatabot reach the destination and pick up a specified number of apples. Children can develop numerical concepts throughout the process. Because they need to plan the route through simple addition calculation and orderly thinking with the increase of game difficulty, children will experience a sense of achievement during thinking actively and solving problems.

How to play

3-4

Teachers need to prepare six apple cards with 1-3 apples in advance. Children need to draw an apple card firstly, then help MatataBot walk corresponding steps in one direction on the map according to the number of apples on the apple card. Sing a song when finished walking(music coding block is preset).

4-5

Teachers need to prepare apple cards with 1-6 apples in advance, and number flashcards with numbers 1-6. Children need to draw an apple card firstly, then help MatataBot walk corresponding steps in one direction on the map according to the number of apples on the apple card. When matching successfully, coding can be started. They need to start from the starting point and let MatataBot walk to the apple tree on the map through coding according to the selected apple card. Then let MatataBot sing a song at the end, celebrating successful apple-picking.

5-6

Teachers need to prepare apple cards with 1-10 apples in advance and number flashcards with numbers 6-10. At first, children need to draw a number flashcard. Then according to the card drawn, select one to three apple cards and calculate the corresponding number of apples to match the number on the number flashcard. When matching successfully, they can start coding. They need to start from the starting point and let MatataBot walk to corresponding apple trees on the map through coding according to the selected apple cards. Then let MatataBot sing a song at the end, celebrating successful apple-picking.
