Phase-II Task: Mars Exploration 

 

Background: 

In the future, the Earth, hopefully, would not be the only planet humans can live on. As Elon Musk revealed, empowered by SpaceX, we might build a city of 1 million people on Mars by 2050.

Please search for information on what challenges humans would need to overcome in order to live on Mars for long, and make your own creative works using MatataBot and your imagination!

Your creation may be inspired by the following dimensions.

  1. What does a community built by humans on Mars look like?
  2.  What resources can be developed on Mars?
  3. What difficulties do you need to overcome to live on Mars? How do you overcome these barriers?

 

Scoring Items:

  • Creative imagination: the content of the work is novel and unique, which can reflect one's own creativity (1-10 points)
  • Hands on ability: use a variety of environmental protection materials to enrich the content of the work (1-10 points)
  • Programming ability: set multiple physical programming small tasks, programming has a certain degree of difficulty and complexity (1-10 points)
  • Expression ability: fluent in expression, able to fully introduce the creativity and programming ideas of the work (1-10 points) 

 

Scoring Criteria:

  • A grid map, with each grid measuring 10cm*10cm. You are encouraged to make your own map through painting;
  • Matatalab products;
  • Brushes, cardboard, glue paper, scissors, and other materials for making models and map decoration;
  • You are also encouraged to use paper molds, clay, Lego parts, popsicle sticks, and other materials to decorate MatataBot;
  • The content of the task must be closely related to the theme;

 

Entry Requirements:

  • Participants may only submit one video entry per phase.
  • The video should include a complete display of the work, a description of the task(s), and a creative explanation (within 3 minutes, otherwise it will be considered unqualified).
  • The video size cannot exceed 200M.
  • Several images of the work as a whole and in detail (no more than 3 images).
  • Subtitles are required for video files.
